Dear Creech Jones,
CHINESE COVERNMENT CLAIM FOR
REQUISITIONED RAILWAY MATERIAL IN HONG KONG.
In your letter of 7th June 1948, you mentioned that the War Office would probably be getting into touch with me at an early date in connection with the above mentioned claims and, at the same time, you very kindly offered further assistance if I should require it.
I have not yet heard from the War Office but, in the meantime, Mr. H.Y. Hsu of the Jardine Engineering Corporation Ltd., which first presented the claim, on behalf of the Chinese Government, has just arrived in this country from China. He has come at the special request of the Chinese Government to try and arrive at a settlement.
I should be most grateful if you would arrange a meeting between Mr. Hsu and a high official at either the Colonial Office or War Office with whom Mr. Hsu could have discussions. Mr. Hsu is available on July 29th and 30th and for the first ten days of August. If you will be good enough to let me have details of the appointment, I will pass them on to Mr. Hsu.
I am sorry to bother you personally with this matter, but I shall be most grateful for your help.
Yours sincerely,
A. Creech Jones, Esq., M.C.,
